The program is taught by Jean-Paul Close
and curated by Jashan Sippy and Dr. Francesca Zampollo
We all need food every day to live. That is why we consider it a core human value, a basic need, not a commodity for trade or speculation. We hence cannot delegate this value to big enterprises and political structures at the expense of our food securities, our environment and planet. This course is about taking back this basic responsibility in the complexity of our current societal reality.

What will you find in this program?
Dealing directly with food makes us aware of the living world of nature, its nutritive values, our dependence as a species on our collaboration with nature, and how we can create modern food resilience in a regenerative way without destroying our habitat.
We can also learn how institutions and governments become instruments in this new mindset and challenge in order to produce the required transformation.
We will even look at how this affects the design of cities, the recovery of landscapes, and the integral evolution of our health and safety.

Background
Our current societal system, including the availability of our food as a basic need, is based on financial, not natural human, ethics.
The effects of this system have been disastrous for our planet and also for our health expectations as a human species. We have made ourselves dependent on the self interests of large enterprises and political structures, relinquishing our own responsibilities in the field of such important issues such as our basic needs or our health and safety.
Climate issues, inequality, global pollution, destruction of landscapes, food manipulation, fossil fuel based production and distribution, are all issues that cannot be solved with the same mindset that causes them and makes them grow to dangerous, even lethal proportions.
The new mindset is to recover our responsibility and become locally resilient through self sufficiency and creating regenerative processes.
This transition in mindset starts with ourselves and gradually involves our neighbors, governments, local enterprises, science, etc. This is all happening already and is growing.
This course is designed to help you start or grow your initiative, set up communities, use technologies, share expertise, etc.
Meet your teacher
Hi, I’m Jean-Paul Close
After his university studies (Math, computer science and international business) Jean-Paul developed a mixed career between entrepreneurship and top level executive positions in multinationals. The birth of his first daughter and his condition as a single father after his divorce, made him aware of the core human values that we stand for as parents for our offspring. It surprised him that those values, necessary for sustainable human progress, were pushed away in our systematized society format based on financial dependencies. He decided to define those core natural human values as a shared human and institutional responsibility and create a society vision that is now referred to as Sustainocracy (Sustainable human progress and Democracy). Those universal key values are: health, safety, co-creation, awareness and our basic needs (food, water, air and warmth). Sustainocracy is being implemented in a growing number of municipalities for regional development.
From the perspective of food as an essential value for our sustainable evolution as a species (just like water, air and warmth), Jean Paul created FRE2SH. FRE2SH is to be seen as a local, regional and global community that experiments together with growing insights about regional food self sufficiency, participation and shared resilience. FRE2SH is purely based on partnerships connected to the common higher purpose of taking our responsibility for food for all in close relationship and cooperation with nature and, wherever necessary, applying technology and science to ensure abundance without pollution, destruction. or speculative manipulation of resources.
